The latest stock market news points to another strong session for Indian equities, with falling crude oil prices, foreign investor buying and hopes of easing geopolitical tensions supporting market sentiment. Jarvis Invest brings you eight important developments, covering corporate earnings, global commodities, infrastructure investments and the economic implications of ongoing supply chain disruptions.
Stock Market News: Nifty and Sensex Extend Rally for Sixth Consecutive Session
Stock markets rallied for the sixth consecutive day, as a sharp fall in oil prices gave the Nifty and Sensex the much-needed boost. In the last 6 trading sessions, the Nifty has gained 1,838 points (+8.1%), while Sensex has gained 6,064 points (+8.3%). With the Democrats sweeping the mid-term polls in the US, there are also hopes that the tensions in the Middle East should reduce. That is likely to alleviate much of India’s supply chain constraints. In addition, FPIs have been net buyers of $2.39 billion in the first 4 trading days of November, further boosting sentiments.
Bharti Airtel Reports 31% Growth in Q2FY27 Net Profit
Bharti Airtel reported 31% spike in net profits to ₹8,888 crore for Q2FY27. While the net profits may have missed street estimates, the ARPUs scaled up further to ₹271 as of end October. Revenues for the quarter were up 16.7% yoy at ₹60,878 crore. EBITDA margins for the quarter stood at 57.9%. Africa delivered 6.7% sequential growth in revenues in constant currency (CC) terms. Total customer base of Bharti Airtel expanded to 69.3 crore across 15 countries, including the Africa operations. It has also invested in expanding its digital infrastructure.
Stock Market News: Hormuz Traffic May Take Until 2028 to Normalise
A recent report by Rystad Energy has underlined that traffic through the Straits of Hormuz may return to pre-war levels only by 2028. That would mean sustained supply chain disruptions in the oil & gas value chain. While tanker movement is likely to improve, attacks may continue and it will take a long time before all the mines are swept. October saw India’s crude imports from the Middle East fall -15% MOM. Gulf oil exports are still about 33% below pre-war levels. One reason could be that tanker costs have gone up nine-fold over pre-war levels due to elevated risks.
Gold Rally Driven by Central Bank Buying and US Debt Concerns
According to Sachin Jain, CEO, World Gold Council (WGC) India; the gold rally was not just about war but also about the massive debt pile of the US economy. US total debt had crossed a record level of $40 trillion recently, and that is a big factor. Since most central banks are expecting the dollar to get debased in the long-term; they are shifting their currency chest holdings from dollars to gold. Jain underlined that today swing in gold prices did not come from jewellery buying. Instead, it came from central bank buying and investment demand by precious metals ETFs.
Stock Market News: Adani Ports to Acquire Evos BV for $2.88 Billion
Adani Ports will buy the Netherlands-based liquid storage operator, Evos BV, in a $2.88 billion all-cash deal. Evos is Europe’s second largest independent liquid storage operator with a storage capacity of 6.3 million cubic metres (mcm) across 5 countries. The deal has been finalized by Adani Ports at 11.7X EV/EBITDA. Evos BV had EBITDA margins of 56% as of calendar 2025. Post-merger, the net debt to EBITDA ratio of the combined entity will be about 2.76X, which will reduce to 2.5X by 2027. The acquisition will be funded by debt, and subject to statutory approvals.
HSBC Estimates India’s Data Centre Push Could Add $105 Billion to Imports
According to an HSBC report, India’s data centre push could add $105 billion to the import bill for India. This assumes a potential expansion in data centre capacity from 1.5 GW to 6.5 GW. The imports of chips for this alone would add to $90 billion. The balance $15 billion would be accounted for by cooling infrastructure, electrical equipment, hardware etc. According to HSBC estimates, building 1 GW of data centre capacity will cost about $30 billion, of which $21 billion will have to be imported. The challenge; most of these data centre imports will be front-loaded.
Stock Market News: M&M Reports 24.9% Profit Growth in Q2FY27
Mahindra & Mahindra reported 24.9% increase in net profits for Q2FY27 at ₹4,588 crore. Sales were up 25.3% yoy at ₹57,515 crore. Net profits were lower nearly -16% on a MOM basis. While core auto sector demand continued to grow, there was some impact on the farm equipment demand with weak Kharif, tepid Rabi sowing and the onset of festive season. The stock reacted positively but the stock is down -12.7% over the last 1 year and nearly -16.8% YTD. With a P/E ratio of 18.2X, the company is still fairly valued compared to its automobile peers.
Morgan Stanley Warns of Global Copper Shortage
Morgan Stanley warns of a major copper shortage globally as the US continues to stockpile copper. In fact, Morgan Stanley sees copper on LME touching $14,800/tonne by December this year. In addition, mine supply disruptions have also contributed to the global tightness in copper supply. In 2026, the US has imported close to 7,40,000 tonnes of copper, which is about 3.4% of refined demand. Morgan Stanley estimates that the US may have stockpiled up to 1.50 million tonnes of copper. Copper mine supply should return to normal in 2027, which will abate the crunch.
Conclusion
Today’s stock market news highlights the close connection between geopolitical developments, commodity prices and corporate performance. While falling oil prices and foreign investor inflows have supported Indian equities, prolonged disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and emerging shortages in commodities such as copper remain important risks.
