Stock market news today is being shaped by government disinvestment, corporate earnings, global crude oil movements, and major regulatory developments. At Jarvis Invest, we track these market-moving updates to help investors understand what matters, why it matters, and how it could influence broader market sentiment.

From the strong institutional response to the LIC OFS and Brent crude falling below $80 per barrel to Bharti Airtel’s Q1FY27 earnings, ONGC’s profit surge, and L&T’s ₹15,000 crore ADNOC order, today’s developments span multiple sectors. Regulatory updates involving REITs, InvITs, digital banking records, and contrasting AI strategies from TCS and Infosys also add important context for investors monitoring the Indian stock market.

Stock Market News: LIC OFS Sees Strong Institutional Demand Ahead of Retail Subscription

On the first day of the OFS of LIC, the institutional portion got subscribed nearly 3.32 times. As a result, the government is likely to exercise the greenshoe option. The retail portion will open for subscription on Wednesday. The price of the OFS has been fixed at ₹382 per share. The government will raise a sum of around ₹31,400 crore via disinvestment of stake in LIC if the full 6.5% stake is sold by exercising the greenshoe option. This stake is likely to increase the public shareholding to 10% of equity capital. Retail demand is also expected to be robust.

Stock Market News: Brent Crude Falls as US-Iran Deal Hopes Improve

The price of Brent Crude fell by nearly 5% on Tuesday after the US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, signalled progress towards a deal with Iran. However, markets will continue to remain sceptical till it is actually implemented. Brent crude fell to below $80/bbl. US WTI crude fell to $76/bbl. Both Qatar and Pakistan have been involved in pushing the rapprochement between the US and Iran. However, supply concerns continue with the Straits of Hormuz traffic down to a trickle and the Bab al Mandel also facing a fall in traffic after Houthis attacked Saudi tankers.

Stock Market News: Bharti Airtel Delivers Steady Q1FY27 Growth Despite Margin Pressure

Bharti Airtel reported 11.2% higher net profits to ₹8,167 crore for Q1FY27. Revenues for the quarter were up 5.7% at ₹58,539 crore. While sales and operating profits were above estimates, the net profits were below street estimates. EBITDA margins eased by 40 bps to 57.4% for the quarter. The India business reported steady growth in its passive infrastructure business, as well as its homes business. Average revenues per user (ARPU) edged up to ₹264, the best in the industry right now. Overall, the business in India and Africa gained from premiumization.

Stock Market News: SEBI May Allow Global Depository Receipts for REITs and InvITs

SEBI is likely to permit depository receipts (DRs) against listed REITs and listed INVITs. Currently, DRs can only be issued against equity shares. DRs permit trading in foreign currency on permitted global exchanges. This is also likely to attract more global capital into REITs and INVITs. Once the DRs are listed in an exchange abroad, they can be traded abroad and normally tend to form the basis for price setting in local markets. This is an added investment option for global investors. The extant foreign exchange rules allow issue of DRs against REITs and INVITs.

Stock Market News: ONGC Reports Record Quarterly Profit on Higher Crude Realisations

Amid rising crude prices, ONGC saw its standalone net profits rise by 112% to ₹17,034 crore, while revenues were up 45.5% at ₹48,322 crore for Q1FY27. The profit came on the back of higher realizations on crude at close to $99.45/bbl. Offshore revenues in Q1FY27 were up nearly 50% yoy at ₹33,337 crore. Crude production was tad lower in the quarter due to complexities in the KG Basin. Going ahead, ONGC is positioning itself more as a gas company and less as a crude oil company. There will be a much greater focus on deepwater and ultra-deepwater wells.

TCS vs Infosys: Two Different AI Strategies Shaping India’s IT Future

Two of the biggest IT players in India (TCS and Infosys) are taking contrasting bets on artificial intelligence (AI). Incidentally, both TCS and Infosys are betting big on AI, but their focus areas are different. While TCS plans to focus more on AI infrastructure, Infosys will focus more on software led transformation. In fact, TCS will focus more on the HyperVault i.e., building the power grid of AI. Also, TCS plans to win more from existing customers. Infosys will focus more on pure-play AI software integration and legacy systems modernization, making it pure-play AI focus.

L&T Wins ₹15,000 Crore ADNOC Offshore Project in the Middle East

L&T has bagged a ₹15,000 crore order from ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) Offshore for a major project in the Middle East. The project entails the development of multiple offshore facilities, and the EPC facilities. A major chunk of the fabrication work will be undertaken at the L&T fabrication yards. L&T has an enviable record in delivering large and complex offshore projects across the region. The Middle East continues to be one of the biggest global markets for L&T, and is perfectly positioned with the upcycle in capital investments in the Middle East.

Government Introduces New Bankers’ Book Evidence Bill to Support Digital Banking

The government has introduced a bill to modernize the bank records law. Finance Minister introduced the Bankers Book Evidence Bill 2026, which aims to update evidence rules in sync with the substantive shift to digital banking. This future-ready legislation will recognize electronic records. The Bankers Book Evidence Act was passed in 1891 and was ripe for a serious update. It will recognize electronic records and permit their presentation in physical or digital form. The Centre will have powers to extend its applicability to any class of entities in BFSI sector.

Conclusion

Today’s stock market news reflects how domestic policy decisions, corporate earnings, and global macroeconomic events continue to shape investor sentiment. Strong participation in the LIC OFS, improving prospects for global energy prices, robust corporate announcements, and regulatory initiatives such as reforms for REITs, InvITs, and digital banking all point to an evolving investment landscape.

Staying updated with reliable market developments is essential for making informed investment decisions. As new economic data, earnings, and policy announcements emerge, keeping track of these trends can help investors better understand opportunities and risks in the market.
