Stock market news continues to shape investor sentiment as global geopolitical tensions, corporate earnings, and policy reforms influence financial markets. Brent crude oil crossing the $100 per barrel mark, Infosys announcing its quarterly results and leadership transition, SEBI introducing a new Mutual Fund-only PMS framework, and the Indian government’s push for strategic energy security are among the biggest developments investors should watch. Together, these events highlight the evolving macroeconomic landscape and their potential impact on equities, commodities, and long-term investment strategies.

In this edition of Jarvis Invest‘s Stock Market News, we break down the most important market-moving developments in simple, actionable language. Whether you’re a long-term investor or someone tracking daily market trends, understanding the context behind these headlines can help you make more informed financial decisions instead of reacting to short-term market noise.

Stock Market News: Brent Crude Crosses $100 as Middle East Tensions Escalate

The risk to oil is not just coming from Iran in the Straits of Hormuz. With the Houthi rebels in Yemen launching attacks on Saudi tankers in the Red Sea, Brent Crude went past $100/bbl in trades today. The price of Brent Crude is up nearly 40% since the start of July 2026 as hostilities have resumed at more alarming levels in the Middle East. With oil flows through the Straits of Hormuz almost at a standstill, the recent Red Sea attacks could also hamper traffic in the Bab-al-Mandeb. Goldman Sachs has already pegged oil at above $120/bbl shortly, if hostilities continued.

Stock Market News: Infosys Q1FY27 Results, Lower FY27 Guidance and New CEO Announcement

Infosys reported a 12% rise in net profits for Q1FY27 at ₹7,769 crore. However, for fiscal FY27, Infosys has trimmed its full year CC sales growth at the upper end from 3.5% to 3.0%. The current CEO, Salil Parekh, is slated to step down as of March 2027 and he will be replaced by Ashish Kumar Dash as the new CEO of Infosys. Revenues from operations in the quarter were up 14% yoy at ₹48,211 crore. The numbers are slightly below consensus expectations. Dash, the next CEO of Infosys, is a 30-year veteran at Infosys and currently heads the energy vertical.

Stock Market News: India Allows 100% FDI in Export E-commerce Inventory Model

In an interesting move, the government amended its FDI regulations, allowing 100% FDI into ecommerce with inventory model for exports. Currently, the 100% FDI is only allowed in the market-place model, and not for the inventory model. This shift is likely to attract substantial FDI flows from global investors, looking to participate in the lucrative Indian ecommerce market. FDI will also be permitted in the B2C model, apart from the B2B model. However, this relaxation is only for exports, and extant restrictions will continue in case of domestic operations.

ITC Targets ₹8 Lakh Crore FMCG Business by 2035 with AI and Premiumisation Strategy

ITC is eyeing a 10-fold increase in its FMCG franchise by the year 2035 at ₹8,00,000 crore; up from the current FMCG sales level of ₹83,300 crore. ITC has seen its FMCG business grow at a CAGR of 10.7%, with EBITDA growing at a CAGR of 9.7%. However, it is the cigarettes business that continues to generate bulk of the net profits for the company. Apart from appealing to the Gen-X and the Gen-Z crowd, ITC is also putting a lot of focus on digital sales. ITC is also looking to invest in AI-driven consumer insights, product innovation and premium offerings across.

Stock Market News: SEBI Introduces Mutual Fund-Only PMS to Expand Wealth Management

SEBI has allowed floating MF-only portfolio management scheme to lower the entry barriers in wealth management. This new MF-only category will entail a minimum investment of ₹25 lakhs. Also, for the MF-PMS providers, the minimum net worth requirement has been reduced from ₹5 crore to ₹2 crore. The framework will also allow use of derivatives, subject to outer limits. Assets managed by PMS funds have more than doubled to ₹42.61 trillion as of May 2026. Such funds will also be allowed to make digital disclosures to keep costs in check and make it affordable.

India Plans Phase 2 Strategic Oil Reserves Worth ₹14,527 Crore

Indian government is planning Phase 2 of the strategic oil reserves with an investment outlay of ₹14,527 crore. This phase will add storage capacity of 6.50 million tonnes of crude, and will be set up in Karnataka and Odisha. Strategic oil reserves will be set up on the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The government viability gap funding is capped at 60% of capital cost of the project. Phase-1 had created storage capacity of 5.33 million tonnes, so once Phase 2 is completed, India’s total SOR capability will stand at 11.83 million tonnes, close to 1-month demand.

Hindalco’s ₹1 Lakh Crore Investment to Strengthen India’s Aluminium and Copper Industry

Hindalco plans to invest up to ₹1,00,000 crore in India; of which ₹50,000 crore will be spent over the next 3 years, while the other ₹50,000 crore will be based on opportunities. It will be investing in the upstream and the downstream business. This outlay will also help India move towards self-sufficiency in aluminium production. In the first phase, Hindalco plans to lift its smelting capacity to 2 million tonnes. The company is also substantially scaling up its copper business, a segment where India has had to depend heavily on imports to meet domestic demand.

Stock Market News: SBI Funds to Launch $200 Million Technology-Focused Private Fund

SBI Funds Management plans to launch a technology-focused fund for private firms, on the lines of the AIF model. The $200 million tech fund will be co-sponsored by the Bengaluru-based 3one4 Capital Management LLP. Currently, the regulatory approval from SEBI is awaited. India’s $175 billion opportunity has already seen major AMCs like ICICI Pru AMC and Axis AMC take the lead in this line of business. SBI Funds has just completed its IPO, in which SBI and Amundi had participated in the offer for sale (OFS). AIFs are the high-growth stories that HNIs are closely tracking.

Conclusion

The latest stock market news underscores how closely global events, regulatory reforms, and corporate developments are connected in today’s investment environment. Rising crude oil prices, Infosys’ earnings and leadership transition, SEBI’s efforts to make wealth management more accessible, and large-scale investments by companies like Hindalco and ITC all point toward an economy undergoing significant transformation. For investors, staying informed about these developments is essential to identifying opportunities while managing potential risks.
