Stock market news continues to shape investment decisions as Indian markets navigate a mix of corporate earnings, macroeconomic developments, regulatory reforms, and sector-specific trends. This week’s biggest highlights include strong market-cap gains among India’s largest companies, improving monsoon conditions, PSU banks reporting healthy credit growth, concerns over the IT sector’s quarterly performance, and fresh opportunities emerging in battery storage and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). For investors, understanding these developments is essential to identify risks, spot long-term opportunities, and make informed portfolio decisions.

At Jarvis Invest, we simplify complex market developments into actionable insights backed by data and AI-powered research. In this edition, we break down the biggest stories influencing the Indian stock market from NSE market movers and SEBI’s latest regulations to specialty chemicals, renewable energy, and India’s expanding technology ecosystem. Whether you’re a long-term investor or someone tracking daily market movements, this comprehensive roundup helps you stay ahead with the latest market intelligence.

Stock Market News: Top 10 NSE Companies Add ₹1.08 Lakh Crore in Market Value

For the week to 03-July, the 10 most valuable stocks by market cap on the NSE saw market value accretion of ₹1,08,402 crore. Among the big gainers, Bharti Airtel added ₹36,529 crore, Bajaj Finance ₹33,060 crore, ICICI Bank ₹16,084 crore, LIC ₹8,602 crore, HDFC Bank ₹7,665 crore, and Hindustan Unilever ₹6,461 crore. Among the big losers in the week were L&T ₹26,572 crore, Reliance Industries ₹18,946 crore, State Bank of India ₹4,846 crore, and TCS ₹1,031 crore. TCS is now at a 6-year low and has dropped to sixth place in the market cap rankings.

Stock Market News: Monsoon Revival Brings Hope for Kharif Crops and Rural Economy

There seems to be some good news on the monsoon front. The first few days of July have seen a major deluge of rains in most deficit regions. This led to the monsoon deficit falling to 24.4%. This is good news for Kharif sowing as well as for the reservoir levels for the Rabi crop. However, Eastern India continues to witness severe deficit. Kharif crops include rice, soybeans, and pulses. El Nino has already delayed rains this time around and sowing will happen in last week of July.  Sowing in the current season translates into harvest in autumn months of September to October.

PSU Banks See Loan Growth Outpace Deposits in Q1 FY27

Even as the deposits of banks struggle to keep pace with loans, even the PSU banks are seeing their loan growth race ahead of deposits growth in the first quarter of FY27. PSU bank lending was led by retail, agriculture and MSME (RAM) loans, while deposit mobilization remained slow, especially CASA. Among the large PSU banks, Bank of Baroda saw loan growth of 17.4% and deposit growth of 13.8%, while Bank of India saw loan growth of 18.64% and deposit growth of 14.92%. The gap was much wider in the case of Canara Bank. Most PSU banks saw higher C/D ratios.

Stock Market News: IT Sector Faces Weak Q1 FY27 as AI Spending Reshapes Demand

A research report by Equirus has highlighted that IT services industry was again likely to be under stress in Q1FY27. The IT results season takes off this week led by bellwether, TCS. Amid rising geo-political uncertainty and AI-led efficiency, spending on traditional IT services was likely to take a back seat. In fact, Equirus expects the constant currency (CC) sales growth of the top-6 IT companies to range between -1.7% to +1.1%, on a sequential basis. The CC growth in sales was likely to be better for mid-caps like Persistent. Companies may wait for visible ROI on AI outlays.

India’s GCC Industry Could Reach $199 Billion by FY30, Says NASSCOM

Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are becoming the big growth engine for India. Currently at $68 billion, the GCC business gross value addition  contribution is likely to grow nearly three-fold to $199 billion by FY30. According to NASSCOM estimates, GCCs could create up to 25 million additional jobs by 2030. If the indirect impact is also included, then the economic value could go as high as $600 billion by the year 2030. Currently, 506 of the Fortune-2000 companies already operate GCCs in India. GCCs differ from outsourcing as they are in-house and high-end too.

Specialty Chemical Companies May Face Margin Pressure in FY27

Specialty chemical companies in India are likely to see a margin squeeze in FY27 due to higher input costs and weak export demand. For the fiscal FY27, the operating margins are expected to fall from 16.0% to around 14.0%, while the debt to EBITDA ratio may go up to 2.2X. The lag effect of higher crude-linked costs is likely to have a telling impact on margins. Revenue growth is likely to slow by 200 bps from 8% to 6% in FY27. Specialty chemical companies have limited ability to pass on higher feedstock costs. However domestic sales (around 66%) will continue to be robust.

Stock Market News: Battery Energy Storage (BESS) Emerges as India’s Next Big Growth Opportunity

As India’s battery storage demand surges to 236 GWh, there is a big order book building up for battery storage companies. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is all about storing the power when the sun goes down and the wind slows. From energy storage demand of 34.7 GWh in FY27, it is likely to surge to 411 GWh in FY32 of which 236 GWh will be BESS, to support renewable energy surge. Indian BESS space is dominated by 3 players (Waaree Energies, Pace Digitek, and Acme Solar). For these 3 companies, this will be a multi-year structural upward shift in order books.

Stock Market News: SEBI Introduces Auto-Pledge Rules for Unpaid Securities Trades

SEBI has streamlined rules for unpaid trades. According to the SEBI circular, any unpaid trades not covered by margin trade funding (MTF), will be auto-pledged after their pay-in into the demand account of the beneficiary. Brokers will have to open a separate CUSPA account for this purpose. Once the auto pledge is executed for unpaid securities, the broker has to intimate the client to pay the amount to avoid sale of the securities. Once the balance amount is paid, the broker can send request for revocation of pledge. Such shares cannot be pledged by the investor for funds.

Conclusion

The stock market news this week highlights a market balancing short-term challenges with long-term structural growth opportunities. While sectors such as IT services and specialty chemicals may face earnings and margin pressures, themes like GCC expansion, battery energy storage, stronger monsoon progress, and sustained credit growth in PSU banks continue to reinforce India’s long-term economic outlook. Regulatory initiatives by SEBI are also improving market transparency and investor protection, making it important for investors to stay updated with every major development.
